Nutritional Pyramid Portions

 

The nutritional pyramid has taken over from the old food four groups

 

Bread, cereal, rice, pasta group: 6 11 servings (per day)

 

Each of the below are equal to one serving

 

        1 slice of bread

        1 small roll

        1 oz dry cereal

        half cup rice past or cooked cereal

        1 pancake

 

Fruit group: 2 4 servings (per day)

 

Each of the below are equal to one serving

 

        half cup cooked  vegetables

        half cup dried beans

        half cup tomato

        half a cup of coleslaw

        1 cup raw leafy vegetables

        three quarters cup vegetable juice

        1 small baked potato

 

Vegetable group: 3 5 servings (per day)

 

Each of the below are equal to one serving

 

Milk. Yoghurt, Cheese group: 2 3 servings (per day)

 

Each of the below are equal to one serving

 

        1 cup milk or yogurt

        half an oz natural cheese

        2 oz processed cheese

        half cup recotta cheese

        2 cups cottage cheese

        1 cup of frozen yogurt

 

Meat. Poultry fish dry beans eggs nuts group: 2 3 servings (per day)

 

Each of the below are equal to one serving

 

        2-3oz cooked lean meat

        half of 6half oz can tuna

        1 medium chicken breast half

        three quarters cup of chopped meats

        piece of meat 3 oz

 

Fats oils sweets group: use sparingly (per day)

 

Each of the below are equal to one serving

 

        1tsp butter

        1 tbs maisyonaise

        1 tbs salad dressing

        1 tbs cream cheese

        1 tbs sour cream

        1 tbs cooking or salad oil
