You Are What You Think

 

You can probably recall hearing a few of these sayings at some point in your life:

 

        There is nothing either good or bad, but thinking makes it so.

        We are what we think.

        We see things not as they are, but as we are.

 

These sayings reflect an important truth.  The quality of our lives depends greatly on the way we think.  Take a look at the statements below.  Fill in the blanks when appropriate and check off any statements that you frequently say to yourself.

 

        I cant control my emotional reactions.

        I must be perfect to love myself or be loved.

        I cant love myself if somebody is better than I am.

        Its my fault when something goes wrong.

        I must do everything that is asked of me.

        I should feel . . . . . . . . . . . . .even though I dont.

        If I try to . . . . . . . . . . . . ., Ill probably fail.

        People who hurt me do it deliberately.

        People should act as I want them to.

        There are so many bad, terrible things in life.

        I cant stand it.

        Its awful.

        The worst is sure to happen.

        Its hopeless.
